Your bill and subscription records stay with you
BillBlink has no account or sync service. The app does not send your bill or subscription records to BillBlink.
BillBlink is made by t27 in Australia. Questions about privacy or this app: billblink@t27.au.
Where information is stored
In a web browser, bills, subscriptions, catalogue update acknowledgements and your theme preference are saved in that browser’s local storage. In the Android and iOS apps, bill and subscription records are kept in the app’s private files; the theme preference and catalogue acknowledgements use the app’s local browser storage.
The web app needs an online visit to load. After that, it can cache the app itself for offline use. Our web server does not keep logs of visits. Its operational logs record things like security-certificate renewals and errors; on rare errors they can include the connecting IP address, and they are automatically overwritten as they fill up. BillBlink does not use them to identify you. BillBlink’s app code does not send your bill or subscription records to the site.
Backups and sharing
You can download a JSON backup in the web app or choose where to save or send one from the Android or iOS share sheet. A backup contains your bills, subscriptions and catalogue update acknowledgements. The destination you choose may receive that file.
On Android, BillBlink includes your bills and subscriptions in your phone’s own backup by default, so they can come back when you restore or set up a new phone. The backup goes to the Google account on your phone, not to BillBlink, and BillBlink cannot read it. BillBlink adds your records to Google’s online backup only when Android encrypts that backup with your screen lock; direct phone-to-phone transfer includes them either way. Android 8 and earlier cannot report this, so records are left out there. You can turn this off at any time with the “Include my bills and subscriptions in my phone’s backup” switch at the bottom of the app. When it is off, your records stay only on this phone and in files you export. Your on/off choice is also backed up so it comes back with the app. Theme, reminder settings and update notices are not backed up. Availability and handling depend on Android and your device account settings.
On iOS, your bills and subscriptions are included in your iCloud/device backup by default. Apple manages that backup, according to your device and account settings; BillBlink receives no copy. A backup helps restore your records and is separate from sync: BillBlink does not sync records between devices. There is no in-app switch to exclude records from iOS backup yet. iOS support is in preparation; backup and restore behaviour still needs checks on a device.
Reminders and calendar
On Android and iOS you can turn on charge reminders. BillBlink schedules them on your phone for the day before a charge or a trial ends, and they can show a bill’s name, label and amount on your lock screen. Nothing is sent to BillBlink. iOS notification delivery still needs checks on a device.
If you download a calendar file (.ics), it contains names, labels, amounts, billing frequencies and dates for upcoming charges and trial ends, and goes only where you choose to save or share it.
Other connections
The app has no advertising, analytics, or BillBlink account service. The catalogue is bundled with the app; its listed source links are not fetched by BillBlink. If a tip is offered in a future version, the payment processor on the web or the app store for an in-app tip would receive payment data only. Tips are not available in this version.
